(Food) George Rector (1878-1947), noted restaurateur, raconteur and food authority of the 1910's-40's, including his own radio cooking show and author of several cookbooks. His signature, in green ink, on TLS from 1946, less than a year before his death, discussing his father's leasing of a building & the name "Rector's" to a restaurant from 1905-15, then leasing only the building for 5 more years, whereafter the building was leased to Hibernian Bank. He sgnd a "P.S." note at bottom a second time. Rector has one of (if not THE first) cooking shows on the air and was like the Paula Dean or Bobby Flay of the 1920's & 30's. (Science) Glenn Seaborg (1912-1999) and Edward Teller (1908-2003) signed FDC for Scott no. 1237 - 5¢ Sciences, Seaborg discovered the elements Plutonium, Curium, Berkelium and Californium and helped create Einsteinum, Fermium, Mendelevium and Nobelium. Teller worked on the Manhattan Project and came to be known as the "Father of the Atomic Bomb". Cover in excellent condition with bold signatures. Pencil annotations on front and back inscribed "5/20 Edward Teller". Very minor adhesive toning on back (Image)
