Scarce shades comprising 6d deep ultramarine ACSC 18B, 1/- dull green 31C & 2/- light brown 36A (SG 26 28 & 29 shades), lightly to very lightly mounted, Cat $3750 (£1100+ for normal shades). Separate NPC Certificates (2021).
(Qty 3)
2d to 5/- complete punctured 'OS', variable centring but the 9d 2/- & 5/- are all very well centred (which is most unusual for the 9d & 2/-), a few minor defects, cds cancels, Cat $2000+ (£680). [It is generally accepted that the 2½d was not punctured 'OS']
(Qty 6)
2d grey Plate 1 No Monogram block of 6 (3x2) from the R/H pane ACSC 6(1)za, well centred, evenly "suntanned" gum, the first unit very lightly mounted otherwise unmounted, Cat $7575 for a mounted No Monogram strip of 3, one mounted & two unmounted normal units. A rare block. Ex Arthur Gray and Lord Steinberg: in neither catalogue was the discoloured gum mentioned, though it was definitely evident.
2d grey Plate 2 'CA' Monogram strip of 3 ACSC 6(2)z, very well centred, light overall aging with a couple of tiny tonespots in the margin, lightly mounted, Cat $5750. Ex Peter O'Rourke.
2d grey punctured 'OS' marginal block of 4 from the top of the sheet, the upper units with Double Perfs on Three Sides ACSC 6/6ba, unmounted, Cat $3500++ for singles. Superb multiple! Very scarce.
2½d indigo marginal block of 4 from the base of the sheet, the first unit with a tiny paper inclusion barely apparent from the face, unmounted, Cat $1600+.
6d ultramarine marginal block of 4 from the L/R of the L/H pane, very well centred, a few tiny tone specks, one unit with a little crazed gum otherwise unmounted, Cat $9000+.
9d violet with the Watermark Inverted ACSC 25a (SG 27w), 'BLACKALL/13MY--/QUEENSLAND' postal cds, Cat $2500 (£1800). [The current ACSC states that "two dozen used examples are known...about half have non-postal markings". In the previous edition, this stamp postally used was priced at $5000, and $2500 for telegraph/fiscal usages. In the current edition, the postal price has been halved (as it needed to be) but the non-postals are still priced at $2500, an obvious error]
1/- dull green Plate 1 Inserted 'CA' Monogram single ACSC 31C(1)za in a horizontal pair, light 'PARCEL POST' cancellation of Sydney that has created what is only the illusion of missing perfs at the right, Cat $9000+ for a mint monogram single in a basic shade plus a used ACSC 31C single. Used monogram pieces, especially in the shilling values are extremely elusive.
