Kangaroo 1d red Watermark Sideways Die I with the Crown Pointing to the Left ACSC 2ab (very fine) and Die II with the Crown Pointing to the Right ACSC 3aa (minor faults), Cat $950. [The orientation of the Crown is as viewed from the face of the stamps]
DIE I - PLATE A: Four positional blocks, including listed varieties Break in R/H Frame above 'Y' of 'PENNY' [L1], Diagonal Scratch from Upper L/H Frame to WA [R24] and Retouch below 'Y' of 'PENNY' [R51], some tonespots & blemishes but at least 8 units are unmounted, Cat $800+. Ex Arthur Gray. [Positional pieces & large blocks from Plate A are extremely scarce. This plate was quickly withdrawn and broken-up to extract electros for printing postal stationery. A previous owner suggested that Plate A varieties and blocks should be worth at least 10 times those from Plates B & C]
(Qty 4 blocks)
DIE I - PLATE A: Quarter-sheet of 30 (6x5) from the L/L of the L/H pane including No Monogram strip of 3 ACSC 2z, generally well centred, some tonespots but most units are unmounted, Cat $2800++.
DIE I - PLATE B: Die I punctured Large 'OS' with Double 'OS' horizontal strip of 3 [R22-24], the central unit with unlisted White Flaw South of Cape Leeuwin but also with small faults, very lightly mounted.
DIE I - PLATE B: Block of 12 (6x2) from the L/H pane with margins both sides, Pos [L40] with '1' to W of Tasmania ACSC 2(B)f, very lightly mounted, Cat $470+. Ex Arthur Gray.

(Qty 7 items)
DIE I - PLATE C: Interpanneau block of 16 (8x2) from the top of the pane plus four units from the R/H pane, [L4] with Wristwatch on Kangaroo's Arm ACSC 2(C)d, light toning in the side-margin & the gutter block of 4 with gum-disturbance otherwise very fresh unmounted, Cat $500++.

DIE II: 'Cherry-Red' shade, tied to piece by 'NORTHAM/WESTN AUSTRALIA' cds, minor blemishes. A famous albeit unlisted shade that is a very distinctive deep brown-red.
DIE II: Punctured Large 'OS' from the base of the sheet with complete lower interpane margin attached that has also been punctured, perfs reinforced. A technically interesting item that suggests either the top row of the upper sheet or the bottom row of the lower sheet was not punctured.
DIE II: Coil strips of 11 with one coil join & 12 with two coil joins, quite fragile & some minor bends but unmounted, Cat $1495+ as normal stamps. [The ACSC doesn't price Kangaroo and KGV coil stamps unless they are attached to coil starters, none of which are known for the 1d Kangaroo. The first strip exhibits the characteristic shorter perfs on one side & longer perfs on the other, while the second strip has unusually regular perfs. NB: sheets of this issue are 10 stamps deep]
(Qty 2 strips)
