Cat No:19b
1854-56 Queen-on-Throne Lithographs 2d purple-black Campbell & Co Early Impressions SG 19b, large even margins, unused & unpriced thus, other shades Cat £850 to £1100.
1854 Half-Lengths Campbell & Co 3d blue SG 24 block of 4 [15-16/21-22], an unusually large multiple with margins just clear - at upper-left - to good, the lower-right unit with Tuft of Grass above Second 'E' of 'PENCE', ironed-out vertical crease at left, some thins - including a concealed central hole on the lower-left unit - that don't detract from the very fine facial appearance, Cat £220+. A rare multiple.
1854-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Ferguson 1d rose SG 28a with secondary flaws at lower-left and especially behind the Queen's arm at right, margins close but clear all around, a couple of tiny black marks on face, unused, Cat £1700. Carl H Lange photo-certificate (1947) translated "... unused ... original ..."
1854-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson 3d blue SG 31b, margins close to large, ironed-out horizontal bend, unused, Cat £2250. RPSofV Certificate (2016). An attractive example. Rather similar to Gary Diffen's example that sold in 2007 for £1090.
1863-81 Laureates Single-Line Numeral Watermarks 8d orange SG 112, large-part o.g., Cat £850. One of the finest examples we have handled of this scarce stamp.
1863-73 Laureates De La Rue Paper Single-Lined Numeral Watermark 1/- blue/pale blue Wmk '1' Perf 13 SG 113 Z-shaped block of 6 (3/3), minor toning, Melbourne duplex cancels of JN20/68. One of the largest recorded multiples.
1884 Stamp Statute V/Crown Wmk (Type 19) Upright Perf 12½ 1d green SG 220a, well above-average centring, large-part original gum, Cat £200. Ex Ed Williams.
1884-96 Large Stamp Duty Typo Wmk '33' Perf 12½ 45/- lilac SG 277, very fresh with strong colour & only the merest traces of toning/aging at upper-right, large-part original gum, Cat £13,000. A very rare stamp. Philatelic Foundation (1991) and BPA (2008) Certificates.
1885-95 Stamp Duty 4d lilac Error of Colour SG 300b, unusually with clean-cut perforations, unused, Cat £14,000. A fresh example of this important and famous error. RPSofV Certificate (2001). [Geoff Kellow states at page 258 "There are nine unused copies known, including [two] pairs". In other words, only five unused singles have been recorded, of which at least two are defective. Gary Diffen's example with "part original gum" sold for £9600]
1901-10 'POSTAGE' V/Crown Mixed Perforations 1½d red-brown/yellow U/L corner block of 8 (4x2) Perf 12½ with an Extra Line of Perf 11 at the Top ACSC V58 (SG 411var), the U/R unit with a crease coincident with an interruption to the line of Perf 11, hinge reinforcing at the top, large-part o.g. , Cat $8000 (£5600+) for four singles. Rare: only two other singles have been recorded. Ex Gary Diffen: sold for £1920. RPSofV Certificate (2009) as SG 411. Illustrated in the ACSC.
1901-10 'POSTAGE' V/Crown Perf 11 £2 blue ACSC V133 (SG 445) corner pair from the U/L of the sheet, full unmounted o.g., Cat $2500++ (£2600++) for mounted singles. Superb! A rare multiple, especially of this quality. [Underrated: if this was an unmounted corner pair of First Watermark £2 Kangaroos, the estimate would be ten times as much]
