1859 First issue 2r. red, coarse impression, horizontal pair plus single used on entire letter from Caracas to Lubeck, Germany via La Guaira, St. Thomas, London and Aachen in 1862, dated inside 'Caracas, 21sth August 1862', stamps tied by blue "CORREOS LA GUAIRA/AGO/22" double-ring d/s, with London and Aachen transit datestamps as well as '17 9 62' arrival cds on the reverse, and on front with British charge mark "1/8" and German "24" (crossed out) and "32". The 6 Reales paying the Venezuelan rate of 2r. per ½oz. to St. Thomas, Danish West Indies were the cover was transferred and carried by British packet. All stamps with faults (partially cut margins, cover fold through central stamp), but this is THE ONLY KNOWN COVER FRANKED BY THREE EXAMPLES OF THE 2r. OF THE FIRST ISSUE & THE ONLY KNOWN COVER TO LUBECK BEARING STAMPS OF THE FIRST ISSUE. A MAJOR RARITY OF CLASSIC VENEZUELAN PHILATELY. Dr. K.
