THE MELBOURNE ROSE. Printed by C. Adler, Hamburg, [circa 1860]. Diecut card souvenir in the shape of a pink rose with green leaves, folding out to display 28 steel-engraved views (front and back), most after S.T. Gill; 13 x 7cms folded, opening to 26 x 26cms. Contained in the original envelope decorated with an Australian coat-of-arms and allegorical figures, and with the additional imprint of the Melbourne co-publishers, Mollenbaeck, Ullhorn & Co., Melbourne. A fine example, rare with the original envelope.The envelope and rose are neatly endorsed to "Mary Ellen Brocklehurst" at Macclesfield (England) from her brother John Brocklehurst, who died in New Zealand around 1918.
