#30, #31, 1866 5c Blue and two examples of 10c Yellow Green, Montevideo Printing, all well margined except for one 10c just touching in part of the left margin, paying the quintuple rate on September 15, 1866 folded cover from Montevideo to Rosario, Argentina, all tied by "2" barred ovals on dispatch, struck in transit by Buenos Aires c.d.s. alongside; with all probability the only example recorded of this franking, very fine; signed Calves. #120a, 1895 25c Liberty, Center Inverted, used with appropriate contemporary Montevideo datestamp, beautifully centered, deep rich colors, very fine; it is believed that only 40 examples were sold at a post office counter in Montevideo before the error was discovered, and the remaining mint copies were destroyed, of the 40 copies that were sold, only a small percentage were recovered and saved, making this an exceptionally rare error; signed Diaz and another and accompanied by 1981 Fausto Diaz Paulos certificate (Scott $2,000.00).
