Uruguay 1845 Blockade Cover to London.
image Sale No: 36
Lot No:1784
Symbol:

Uruguay 1845 Blockade Cover to London. Folded letter datedline "Montevideo January 29 1845", with dark red "MONTEVo" strike, endorsed "by Falmouth Packet" in manuscript, to London, with "LK My 9" receiver on reverse; content in English describes the blockade of Montevideo by Argentina with the French as their Allies; arriving May 9 reveals how long correspondence took overseas during the war between these two neighboring countries; docketing seems to indicate that this was one of two or three copies sent in order to face the gauntlet of the Blockade; rare usage, couple file folds do not detract, Very Fine. Estimate  $500 - 750. $0 (Image)
