1847, July 1st, day of introduction of the first regular issue, stampless folded cover addressed to Morganfield, Kentucky, bearing very fine strike of "St Louis Mo./Jul 1/10" c.d.s., annotated as received on "July 6th 47" at left, some splitting at top not detracting from the overall clean and fresh appearance; a very rare cover dispatched on the first day of issue of the first regular stamp in the United States, of great desirability as no covers have been so far discovered exhibiting the first-issue denominations, 5c and 10; 2007 Philatelic Foundation certificate. Appealing mint and used collection neatly arranged in two stockbooks, the nineteenth century mostly used to the Columbians, then mixed mint and used to the Pan-Americans, with the remainder of the twentieth century being nearly all mint, among the better used we note #9X1, 1, 7, 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 28, 29, 30A, 32, 33, 37 (2), 38, 67, 70-72, 75, 76, 1867 grilled values to 90c, 1869 cplt. to 30c, most Bank Notes to 90c, 261, 261A, 276-78, 293, blocks of four of C1, C2 (2) and C18, among the mint highlights are a New Haven postmaster provisional reprint on soft white paper, 10X1, 36, 36B, 38, 39, 63, small Bank Notes to 90c, Columbians cplt. less the $4.00 but including and extra $1.00, 260, 263, 276, Trans-Mississippi cplt. to the $1.00, 20th century commemoratives virtually complete including the entire Panama-Pacific issue, 300-10, 312, 315, strong Washington-Franklins with most of the issues represented, including coils in singles and pairs, however many of the flat plate issues appear to be fake, 1922-29 regular issues mostly complete, the post 1930 issues just housed loose in a large envelope, back-of-the-book include C1-6, most special delivery issues and parcel posts to 75c, there is also a CE2 plate number study which is also loose in an envelope, condition varies but overall is better than typically encountered, we note some early issues regummed, no gum, with small fault or with perfs. touching, however there are also many nice fine-very fine and better to be found throughout, especially among the 20th century so a careful evaluation is strongly recommended.
