Scott Nos. 122  Estimate $2,000 - 3,000. ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 90¢ 1869 ISSUE CANCELLED BY THE U.S. POSTAL AGENCY AT YOKOHAMA. The cancellation strike here exactly matches similar strikes on a March 24th 1870 cover from Yokohama to Ireland (see Frajola p. 145). A substantial number of 10¢ 1869s exist with these Yokohama chop cancels, but we record only three 90¢ 1869s with this cancel: the example offered here, an example was offered in 1997 Rarity Sale (real. $4,400) and and an example offered in the 2000 Rarity Sale (realized $5,500).
