Wingate's Oakland Express, Jan 11. Bold cds on 1864 3Ā¢ pink entire to Sacramento, with a Pacific Union Express red ribbon printed frank, additional blue "Sac., Mess, Jan 13" cds canceling; opening tear at upper left corner and partial backflap, otherwise Extremely Fine, the only cover known and in wonderful condition, pictured in Nathan (pg. 239), ex Jarrett. EstimateĀ $4,000 - 6,000. Wingate's Oakland Express ran in opposition to Bamber for the San Francisco - Alameda County business and were in associated with Pacific Union. When Pacific Union closed in 1870 they were left without a partner and closed. Due to the rarity of this express they were obviously not very successful in opposing Bamber. $0 (Image)
