Rough perf. 14, light manuscript cancel, bold color, light corner crease, otherwise Very Fine, one of approximately ten examples of the 5¢ Union Despatch stamps known. Estimate $500 - 750. The Union Despatch Co. operated between 1855-59 by proprietor Edmund G. Stiles, with his general western office residing at 139 Lake St. in Chicago. These stamps have been regarded as being issued by Stiles and are among the first perforated stamps used during the same time of the unofficial Chicago trial perforations on U.S. issues. $0 (Image)
