Union City Express. Manuscript cancel on folded December 22, 1854 blue folded letter from Alvarado, Alameda County to San Francisco, handed over to Wells Fargo & Co. (blue oval Leutzinger type 3-1) who carried to San Francisco and then handed to Swift & Co. (in manuscript) for local delivery; central light filing fold, Very Fine, an exceptionally rare and important triple combination express. Estimate  $4,000 - 6,000. The Union City express ran in Alameda county (Union City being the early name for Alvarado) and this is the only known cover from arguably the earlier express company from Alameda county, the Swift is the only known fully manuscript cancel (the other three have the handstamp). $0 (Image)
