Steamer Cherokee. Perfect strike of elaborate illustrated handstamp on 1853-55 3¢ Red Nesbitt entire to Tuscaloosa Ala., embossed stamp cancelled by "Tuscaloosa Al. Jan. 11" circular datestamp on arrival, some overall wear including waterstaining at bottom left, Very Fine and attractive, a lovely strike of this rare marking, only three examples of this marking are recorded.
