Steamboat "Spartan", manuscript endorsement on folded letter datelined "New Orleans 5 Decr. 1826" and carried by the Spartan to Natchitoches where it was rated "S.B. 18¾" in purple manuscript for up to 400 miles, Very Fine. Estimate  $150 - 200. The Spartan of just 45 tons was built at Chilo Oh. in 1823 and enrolled at New Orleans in 1824. It was purchased in May 1826 by S.C. Reno who was her Master. $0 (Image)
