Shultz, Ariz., Jan 23, 1900 (Pinal), cds (Meyer 2, rarity 6) on registered 1899, 2¢ carmine entire to Prescott, uprated with 8¢ small bureau tied by target handstamp; cover a bit reduced at left, Very Fine, the earliest of only three recorded examples of this postmark. Estimate  $200 - 300. The small mining camp on the hill above the San Pedro River was developed by Frank Shultz around the end of 1872. He built a small grocery store and opened the post office to accommodate his workers on July 12, 1894. Not long in service, the post office was closed on May 15, 1902. $0 (Image)
