Namaqua, Col, Jul 1 1869, manuscript postmark on cover to Washington D.C., franked with cork canceled 1869, 3¢ ultramarine; cover slightly reduced at left, Very Fine, a rare short-lived territorial postmark, with known usages between December 17, 1868 and July 1, 1869. Scott No. 114  Estimate $400 - 600. A New Mexico frontiersman, Mariano Medina, opened a trading post in 1858 he called Namaqua, The Overland Stage Line began to use Namaqua as one of their regular stops. A post office opened under that name on January 28, 1868 and was discontinued on January 3, 1879. $0 (Image)
