Montgomery City, C.T., Dec 4, cds with matching target tying 1861, 3Ā¢ rose on cover to Miwensville, Pa., with original 1864 enclosure, cover with small edge flaws and partial backflap, F.-V.F., gold was discovered here in 1859, and the boom reached its peak in 1861. EstimateĀ  $200 - 300. Montgomery City was a boom town that went bust when the gold played out. Despite its brief importance, covers (all territorial) are quite scarce.
