Beautiful strike of fancy rectangle handstamp on cover to Strong, Maine, franked with 1851 3¢ dull red pair tied by "Sacramento City, Cal, 10 Apr." balloon cds with "Due 4" manuscript notation to make up the 10¢ rate, so sent after the transcontinental rate increase effective April 1, 1855, trivial corner wear, Very Fine, an interesting use of an envelope with its franking that was evidently purchased from the Noisy Carrier office in San Francisco but not used until sometime later when the rate had changed, Pictured in Simpson.
