Estimate  $1,500 - 2,000. Hiram Favor of Eastport Me. was appointed a letter carrier for the mails between Boston and St. John with stops at Portland and Eastport. Estimate  $750 - 1,000. Favor's Express was based in Boston and operated from 1850 two sister vessels, the "Alabama" and the "Florida", both of 1,261 gross tons built at New York. The company served the express route to St. John, New Brunswick calling at Providence and Eastport, Maine.
