Descandum Kansas Improvement Company, hilarious but perhaps half-serious printed "Declaration of Sentiment and Constitution" patterned upon the Emigrant Aid Societies, in which an enterprising young man solicits the purchase of "stock" in his personal venture to emigrate to Kansas Territory, in exchange for which "each member shall have his name engraved with the largest jack-knife upon the largest tree in all of Kansas", attractive covered wagon vignette, locally mailed bearing 1851, 1¢ blue tied by grid cancel, red "Chelsea Mass. Sep 24" cds adjacent, Very Fine. Estimate  $200 - 300.
