Mourning envelope posted at Auburn, N.Y. on December 20th arriving New York December 22nd addressed to York, England. Prepaid the 12 cent rate of January 1868 which was reduced to 6 cents in January 1870 making this a late use of the earlier rate. Paid with 1869, 3¢ ultramarine, horizontal strip of four cork cancelled at the New York Foreign Mail office.
