Cunard Line "Canada". Entire dated "New York 12th Oct. 1852" addressed to Cognac and struck with the New York short lived "BRITISH PACKET" (Winter records usage August 1852 to April 1853). Bagged for Boston and put onto the Canada on the 13th October arriving Liverpool 24th. Backstamped with London transit for 25th, Paris for 26th and Cognac arrival of 27th October and charged 13 Decimes; file folds, Very Fine. Estimate  $300 - 400. The Canada of 1,831 tons was built in 1848 as one of four steamships laid down to allow Cunard to fulfill an increased schedule of sailings for their new contract. $0 (Image)
