"26", bold strike of sunburst postmark with manuscript "26" dating and matching "Paid 18Ā¾" cent rating on folded letter datelined "Mayhew C.N. 23 Oct. 1826" to Natchez Miss.; edge flaws reinforced, Fine, a wonderful strike. EstimateĀ  $1,000 - 1,500. ONE OF ONLY ABOUT 6 RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THIS FANCY SUNBURST POSTMARK. This marking is known used Sept. 1826 to 1828. The letter from Reverend Cyrus Kingsbury concerned banking transactions. He was a missionary to the Choctaws and the father of the "Choctaw Intelligence" editor J.P. Kingsbury.
