Jun 11, clear strike of route agent cds and matching light "10" cent due rating handstamp on blue folded letter datelined "Saint John NB 10th October 1857" and addressed to Wilmington Del., endorsed "Mail per Admiral", reverse with "Wilmington Del. Oct 14" arrival cds, Very Fine, Rarity IX, ex-David Jarrett. Towle No. A-1-a  Estimate $500 - 750. Hiram Favor, as the duly appointed letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office on the St. John, N.B. to Boston route, handled significant volumes of mail during his ten year time frame. The majority bore various route agent postmarks without any other indication of Favor's carriage other than reference to the steamship "Admiral". $0 (Image)
