Charlestown Ms Apr 25 1862, red cds on buff cover to Boston Mass. bearing 1¢ blue (63), straddle s.e. at left, and 3¢ rose (65), tied by circular grid cancels, 1862 receipt docketing on back; 3¢ rounded corner, opening tears at right, Fine and scarce Charlestown carrier use, ex-Johnston. Estimate  $300 - 400. ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED CARRIER COVER CHARLESTON. Charleston was one of the few small towns to have carrier service during the early 1860s.
