Canon City, Col., Jul 10, octagonal postmark probably 1873 or 1874, well struck on 1¢ first issue postal card to New York, Very Fine and rare, the Only Recorded Example of This Handstamp, ex-Persson. Estimate  $200 - 300. At the entrance to the Royal Gorge of the Arkansas, Canon City became a transportation and supply center for the surrounding territory.
