Tied by "Long Beach, Cal./Aug. 9, 1936" machine cancel on cover with Olympic commemorative cachet for the Olympic Water Sports held at Long Beach, cover signed by "Al Le Coney", Very Fine. Scott No. 718  Estimate $100 - 150. Jeremiah Alfred "Al" LeConey (November 3, 1901 - November 11, 1959) was an American athlete, winner of the gold medal in the 4 x 100m relay at the 1924 Summer Olympics. At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, LeConey ran the anchoring leg in the American 4 x 100m relay team which took the gold medal with a world record of 41.0.In 1932 he received an unusual honor when a picture of him at the 1924 Olympics was used by the U.S. Post Office in developing this stamp for the 1932 Games. $0 (Image)
