1890, 15¢ indigo. Two singles (defective), tied by "Washington, D.C." duplex cancels on large cover to the Consul General of the U.S. at Vienna, cover carried aboard the ship Eider which floundered on the voyage, purple boxed wreck handstamp, with March 8th receiving backstamps, edge of cover with Official Seals, one 15¢ stamp apparently fell off and was reaffixed during the recovery using the seal, red "Department of State" wax seal on back, some wear though still in remarkable condition, Fine, Eider wreck covers are very scarce with stamps, rare with U.S. stamps and this is the first example we have seen with the 15¢ 1890 Issue.
