1876 Centennial Envelopes. Lot of original Postal circular describing the Centennial envelopes, six mint entires (four green & two red), two blue Entire bundle wrappers with gold monogram, one used green entire postmarked "Philadelphia/May 22" (1876, very early use) with original enclosure which states in part, How do like my envelope? It is Centennial made in the U.S. Building. They have a machine there that cuts, folds, counts and puts the "stickem" stuff on at the rate of 120 per minute, plus one unused green entire with pencil inscription, Centennial Exposition (Phila. 1876) I saw the first Typewriting machine. the factory (Remington) had a number of young girls on a long counter receiving dictation from the public (50 cents per letter of 6-10 lines) and I dictated and mailed such a novelty of a letter to my old mother. In the Govt. building near by, envelopes were printed & stamped on it like this. I bought some & kept this one ever since. As you are interested in Postage Stamps I thought I send you this one. If it is no good for collections as it has not been cancelled by Post Office mark, just destroy it., dated "July 2, 1913", Very Fine, an interesting group for the Postal Historian, ex-G. Turner.
