1876, 3¢ Light Blue & Rose, printing II, tied by bold "St. Thomas 23/11 1878" cds with additional strike adjacent on cover addressed to Wm. H. Heyliger on St. Croix, manuscript "Frederiksted, 24/11 78, LK" postmark, address updated in blue crayon to Christiansted, reverse with "Christiansted 25/11 1878" arrival cds, some typical worm holes, otherwise Very Fine; with 2000 Moller certificate. Facit No. 6b. Scott No. 6  Estimate $1,500 - 2,000. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE TEMPORARY FREDERIKSTED MANUSCRIPT POSTMARK DUE TO POST OFFICE FIRE. The Frederiksted post office burned in October 1878 with the loss of all equipment. Mail was hand-cancelled in manuscript and signed by the postmaster until 1879. $0 (Image)
