1874 (Aug. 31) Corfu, Greece to Middleborough Mass., Forwarded to Boston, Washburne correspondence cover bearing Corfu origin cds via North German Union mails who applied "Unfrankirt" handstamp along with "3½" gr. debit rating, carried on NGL Line Mosel from Bremen Sep. 5 to New York arriving Sep. 19, "New York Br. Transit Sep 19" backstamp, red crayon "26 Due" in depreciated currency, framed "Due" handstamp and manuscript "26¢" restatement, forwarded with "Middleborough Mass. Sep 21" cds to Boston Mass. and manuscript "Paid" rating added; tiny edge flaw and partial flap, Very Fine. Estimate  $200 - 300. The 26¢ due was a combination of 14¢ due for an unpaid letter sent from NGU via the closed mail route, the 8¢ (3½ gr.) NGU debit, plus 4¢ premium for depreciated currency. $0 (Image)
