1868 (Dec. 19) New York, N.Y. to Reims, France, blue folded letter with red "New York Paid All Dec 19" exchange cds and matching "Supplementary Mail" type A handstamp, 30Ā¢ prepayment not marked with red crayon "12" double credit to France, carried as endorsed by Inman Line City of Paris from New York Dec 19 to Liverpool arriving Dec. 29, red framed "P.D." h.s., French (12.30) entry cds, Rheims (12.30) arrival backstamp, light horizontal fold, Very Fine, a scarce stampless supplementary mail usage. EstimateĀ  $300 - 400. This letter was taken directly to the steamship pier in New York after mails closed at the regular post office. By paying an extra complete rate (in this case, two rates), the letter was included in the supplementary mails that accompanied the regular mails. $0 (Image)
