1866 (Mar. 17) Rheineck, Switzerland To Philadelphia Pa., blue folded cover bearing Switzerland 30f and 40f (2)couple perf flaws, tied by three strikes of "Rheineck 17 Mar 66" cds, black "P.D." paid-to-destination handstamp, French red crayon "9" cent credit to U.S., carried by Inman Line City of Paris departing Liverpool Mar. 21st to New York arriving Apr. 2nd, red "Phila. Am. Pkt. 'Paid' Apr 2" exchange cds and red "21" handstamp to reiterate rate, Very Fine, Carried on the maiden voyage of Inman Line City of Paris. Estimate  $200 - 300. Under the Franco-Swiss Convention of 1 October 1865, the prepaid rate for letters sent from Switzerland to the Brazil, Denmark, the United States, and the Sandwich Islands, via France, was established at 1Fl0c per 7½ grams. This amount paid all postal charges to destination.
