1862 (May 1) Louisville Ky. to Magden, Switzerland, yellow cover bearing 5¢ buff (67) and 30¢ orange (71), tied by two strikes of blue "Louisville Ky. May 1" duplex, endorsed "Per French Mail" at top, red "New York 'Paid 18' May 7" exchange cds, carried by Cunard Line Persia from New York May 7th to Queenstown arriving May 16th, red Calais (5.18) transit cds and red "P.D." framed handstamp, Sissach (5.19) and Rheinfelden (5.19) backstamps; some minor perf toning, vertical cover folds, F.-V.F., a scarce franking that would have prepaid the 35¢ Prussian Closed Mail rate and actually overpaid the 21¢ French Mail rate as endorsed.
