1862 (Feb. 1) Bristol Ct. to Nassau, Bahamas, cover bearing 1¢ blue (63) horizontal pair and 3¢ rose (65), tied together by circular grid cancels prepaying the 5¢ British packet rate, matching sharp "Bristol Ct. Feb 1 1862" cds, endorsed "Pr Karnak", blue crayon "4" pence rating for inland postage due; stamp flaws from edge placement, F.-V.F. and scarce destination. Estimate $400 - 600. The "Karnak" was originally owned by Cunard Line and was transferred to the British & Foreign Steam Navigation Co. in 1855. She provided New York - Nassau - Havana mail service until it wrecked off of Bermuda in 1862. This cover obviously was on one of its last voyages. $0 (Image)
