1861 (Mar. 20) Boston Mass. to Rome, Italy, cover bearing 3¢ dull red (26) pair folded over edge, 10¢ green (35) and 30¢ orange (38), all tied by two strikes of Boston "Paid" grid cancels, Boston red crayon "23" cent credit and same crayon cancels 3¢ on back, carried as endorsed by Cunard Line Niagara from Boston Mar. 20th to Queenstown arriving Apr. 2nd, Aachen Franco (4.4), various backstamps and manuscript ratings including Torino (4.7.61) transit; stamp faults, F.-V.F., A scarce example of the 46¢ Prussian Closed mail rate to Rome effective May 1860 to Apr. 30, 1863.
