1859 (Sep. 1) Savannah, Ga. to the Balearic Islands, blue dated printed circular with red crayon "4" cent prepayment for the printed matter rate, New York large red "2" cent credit to G.B., carried by Cunard Line Africa from New York Sep. 14 to Liverpool arriving Sep. 25, via closed mails through France to Spain, La Junquera (9.27) and Palma de Mallorca (9.30) backstamps, perfect strike of Majorca "½ Rs." due handstamp for inland postage, Extremely Fine and choice printed matter use. Estimate  $300 - 400. Under the 1848 U.S.-G.B. Convention, effective 15 Feb. 1849, the rate for printed matter sent from the United States to destinations beyond the U.K., was established at 4¢ per item.
