1859 (Jun. 22) Athens Ga. to Paris, France, cover bearing 3¢ dull red (26), horizontal strip of five, pair and single, all tied by four strikes of "Athens Ga. Jun 22" cds, red "New York 'Paid 24' Jun 28" credit exchange cds, carried by Cunard Line Europa from Boston Jun. 29th to Liverpool arriving Jul. 9th, French (7.11) entry cds and Jul. 12th arrival backstamp; small stain spot, some small stamp flaws, F.-V.F., an attractive double-weight use; with 1991 P.S.E. certificate. Estimate  $500 - 750. This cover was apparently short paid 3¢ for double the 15¢ treaty rate to France, but was accepted as fully prepaid with New York applying the correct 24¢ double-weight credit cds. $0 (Image)
