1859 (Jul. 9) Genoa, Kingdom of Sardinia to Boston, Mass., wrapper with printed prices current, red Genoa (8.11) origin cds at the 17 centesimi rate (not shown), Turin (8.12) backstamp, red oval "P.P." handstamp, red London "Paid JY 15" transit, carried by Cunard Line Europa from Liverpool Jul. 16 to Boston arriving Jul. 28, 2Ā¢ postage due not shown, Very Fine. EstimateĀ  $300 - 400. Printed circular with wrapper sent under Anglo-Sardinian Treaty of 1857 (closed mail through France). The exchange office at Turin marked P.P. to show item was paid part way. G.B. received 2 Francs per kilogram of bulk printed matter from Sardinia. Circular was then exchanged with U.S. under U.S.-G.B. Treaty of 1849, each country paying own printed matter fees. Wrappers with original contents are quite scarce since most wrappers were discarded. $0 (Image)
