Cat No:27

1858, 5¢ brick red, type I, light unobtrusive New Orleans, La. town cancel, precision centering amid beautifully balanced margins, rich brilliant true brick red color and a crisp impression on bright paper, Extremely Fine to Superb; with 2014 P.F. Graded certificate (XF-S 95, SSV $12,500). Scott No. 27  $1,700. A STUNNING SUPERBLY CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE 1858 5¢ BRICK RED ISSUE. A RARITY IN SUCH EXTRAORDINARY CONDITION. The 1858 5¢ Brick Red issue is one of the most difficult 1857-61 issue to obtain in superb condition, due to it's exceptionally tight margins. The P.S.E. Population Reports reflects this scarcity, as only four examples have ever graded a 95 and none higher. $0 (Image)
