1857 (Oct. 9) Charleston, S.C. to Cadiz, Spain, printed circular of Herckenrath, Wragg & Co. endorsed "printed sheet" and "Charge key box 25", black "Charleston S.C. 'Paid' Oct 10 1857" cds, New York large red "2" cent credit rating to G.B., carried by Cunard Line Arabia from New York Oct. 14th to Liverpool arriving Oct. 25th, red London (10.26) transit cds, couple minor flaws, Very Fine. Estimate  $500 - 750. When newspaper rate to most European destinations was reduced in April 1853 from 4¢ to 2¢, Spain was not included and 4¢ rate remained until early 1860. New York credited the U.K. with 2¢ using a large red handstamp. Spanish postage due is not shown but was ½ real. This circular includes a full page graph of cotton prices for the year. $0 (Image)
