1857 (Oct. 1, Dec. 1) London, England to Baltimore, Md., two printed freight circulars of Oakford & Co., each with printed ship endorsement and bearing 1d red prepayment, Oct. 1 carried by Cunard Line Asia and Nov. 1 carried by Cunard Line "Canada", both with Baltimore blue "2" cent postage due h.s., a Very Fine pair. Scott No. 33  Estimate $200 - 300. Each was registered at the General Post Office to qualify for the reduced rate of one penny and printed to go out by specific steamships to the U.S. Baltimore was one of the few U.S. cities that actually used a handstamp to show the 2¢ postage due. $0 (Image)
