In combination with 1851, 3¢ dull red, horizontal pair attempting to pay the 15¢ rate on double rate cover to Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, tied by "Sacramento, Cal., Oct 4, 1856" cds's, "20" handstamp & two manuscript "60" rates crossed out, oval "United States" exchange handstamp and manuscript "30" and "1/6" due; stamp creases, cover soiling and edge wear expertly restored, Fine appearance, an unusual rating and destination. Just shaving bottom of design otherwise large margins including sheet margin at left, tied by "St. Paul, M.T." cds on cover to Canada with red straight line "Paid" and matching red "United States/6d" exchange oval handstamp, Very Fine, the postmark appears to be Oct. 1857, which would indicate this was used during the Territoral period.
