1855 (Apr. 22) Aachen, Prussia to New York, N.Y., newspaper wrapper front with red Aachen (4.22) origin cds and matching "Paid All" framed h.s., Prussian red manuscript "4" cent credit to U.S., carried by Ocean Line Hermann from Southampton Apr. 25 to New York arriving May 9, pencil "1" at left, Very Fine. EstimateĀ  $100 - 150. One newspaper wrapper paid 2Ā½ silbergroschen under U.S.-Prussian convention of 1852. This paid the printed matter to its destination. Only newspapers were allowed as printed matter under this convention and no other forms such as printed circulars. Four other wrappers with printed address labels from this sender in Aachen are recorded. Printed matter under the Prussian closed mail convention is quite scarce. $0 (Image)
