1853 (Feb. 20) New Orleans, La. to Bordeaux, France, folded letter with red "New Orleans Feb 20" cds and matching "Paid 5" for British open mail rate by British packet, black "British/Packet" h.s., carried by Cunard Line America from Boston Mar. 2 to Liverpool arriving Mar. 14, red London (3.15) and Paris (3.16) backstamps, black "15" h.s. updated to "13" decimes due h.s., Bordeaux (3.17), F.-V.F. Estimate  $200 - 300. The "British/Packet" marking is believed to have been struck at New York during August 1852-April 1853. It is known in red and black ink.
