Aug 22" cds, red "British Transit." h.s., carried by Cunard Line Canada from Boston Sep. 1 to Liverpool arriving Sep.11, London (9.12) backstamp, Paris (9.14) backstamp and "13" decimes due h.s., Bordeaux (9.15) arrival backstamp, stain spot, F.-V.F., one of only four recorded "British Packet" handstamps in red.; Ashbrook notations on back. Scott No. 7, 10  Estimate $300 - 400. The "British /Packet" marking is believed to have been struck at New York during August 1852-April 1853. It is known in red and black ink.
