Echarte, May 18th 1850" flap endorsement, red "New York May 18" exchange cds, carried by Tod & McGregor City of Glasgow from New York May 18 to Glasgow arriving June 2, handstamped two line "Greenock/Ship Letter" and green Greenock (6.2) backstamp, red London (6.3) backstamp and matching "Colonies/&cleaned.Art.13" framed h.s., Calais (6.4) entry cds with manuscript "30" decimes due rating, some minor aging spots, F.-V.F., This is the maiden return voyage of only 4 round voyages for Tod & McGregor, this is the only recorded cover by this steamship under original owners. A scarce non-contract steamship voyage. Estimate  $400 - 600. The "City of Glasgow" was the first iron screw steamship to operate on the Atlantic. She made five voyages on the Glasgow - New York service on Tod & McGregor's own account and sailed on her maiden voyage on April 15, 1850. $0 (Image)
