1850 (Jun. 10) Panama to Charleston S.C., buff cover with remarkable strike of "Panama N.Y. Jun 10" cds of U.S. Mail Despatch Agent at Panama, on cover to S.C., bold strike of red "New Orleans La June 24" cds and matching "Steam" straightline and "30" in circle rating handstamps, forwarded with red "Charleston S.C. '5' Ju1 3" cds to Monticello S.C.; small seal stain, Very Fine and choice strike, ex-DeVoss, Alexander, Kramer. Estimate  $1,000 - 1,500. THE EARLIEST AND ONE OF THE FINEST OF ONLY 12 RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE U.S. CONSULAR OFFICE AT PANAMA POSTMARK. Between June 10th and July 21st 1850, the United States Consul at Panama, Amos B. Corwine is recorded as applying the "Panama N.Y." circular datestamp on letters handled by his office. It is known with dates of only June 10th, June 23rd and July 21st. $0 (Image)
