1850 (Jul. 6) New York, N.Y. to Batavia, Dutch East Indies, folded letter with small red "Viâ SOUTHAMPTON" endorsement h.s. carried by Collins Line Pacific from New York Jul. 6 to Liverpool arriving Jul. 17, red "London Paid 19 Jul 1850" datestamp with red manuscript "1/4" 1s4d prepaid rating to Batavia, manuscript "160" Dutch Cents due rating, Extremely Fine. Estimate  $200 - 300. Letter carried in parcel on "Pacific" and did not enter mails until posted by London agent. Viâ SOUTHAMPTON handstamp in red applied by forwarding agent as a private marking to show desired routing of letter. Marking probably that of Baring Brothers in London. Letter traveled by P&O steamers "Indus", "Haddington", and "Achilles" to Singapore. $0 (Image)
